Here are answers to the questions I hear most. If yours isn’t here, get in touch.

Are there any prerequisites for the classes?

No prior experience is needed. Every class starts with the fundamentals, so you’re welcome whether you’ve never handled a firearm or have been shooting for years. You won’t be rushed or talked down to.

If you’re new to handguns, take Basic Handguns before the Pistol Safety & Carry (Michigan CPL) class. The CPL class ends with a live-fire range qualification, and that shouldn’t be your first time shooting.

What do I need for class?

For the live-fire handgun classes, Basic Handguns and Pistol Safety & Carry (Michigan CPL), you’ll need:

  • Eye and ear protection
  • A handgun
  • 50 rounds of factory ammunition

The range doesn’t rent equipment, so bring your own or add the Range Equipment Package when you schedule a handgun class. It’s a $20 add-on with eye and ear protection, ammunition, and a loaner firearm. There’s one loaner per class, and up to two students can share it, so spots are limited. If you bring your own firearm, it must stay unloaded and in a case until the live-fire portion of class.

For any class with live fire, wear closed-toe shoes and a high-collared shirt (no tank tops).

Bring a notebook and pen to any class, along with a willingness to learn.

Emergency First Aid Fundamentals has no equipment requirements. Just bring yourself.

Do I need my own gun for class?

I completed the CPL class, now what do I do?

I lost my certificate, what do I do?
Please contact me. If you attended and passed within the last five years, I can reprint your certificate for $5. The reprint shows your original class date.
